Japan is synonymous with effective train service which is well-known for it punctuality. So for train spotting, we made a trip to Nagoya to visit the SCMaglev and Railway Park which is run by the Central Japan Railway Company (JR Central). The journey is also made possible by the 14-day JR Rail Pass, which made travelling on long distance much affordable on the slick Shinkansen.
The JR Pass is not sold in Japan and must be purchased ahead of the trip. When we arrived in Osaka, we changed the vouchers at the train terminal across from the Airport Terminal Building. In addition to cheaper Shinkansen (except the Nozomi and the Mizuho Shinkansen) rides, the Pass is valid on all the JR lines all over Japan.
From Shin Osaka, we took the Shinkansen for Nagoya and switched to the Aonami Line for Kinjofuto Station (about 25mins ride). The museum is closed on Tuesday and the New Year period. Admission fee is Yen 1000 for Adult (optional at additional charges - train simulator audio).
